The Bachelor Yard at Cascade Hop Farm - A more sustainable less environmentally impactful hop farm

Sustainability by design - Building The Bachelor Yard at Cascade Hop Farm
As some of you known were doing things a bit different in the Bachelor Yard at Cascade Hop Farm - the goal being a more sustainable less environmentally impactful hop farm. To do this, we selected poles that were harvested as part of a fuels reduction program from the Mt. Bachelor area VS tree farmed or deforestation sourced poles. These trees are smaller in diameter then what we would normally seek to use for hop poles but for us it was more important to see how far we could go in regards to low impact hop farming.

To protect these untreated poles we chose ROTBLOC, an organic product that is made from recycled materials that stops post rot dead in its tracks! Were not expecting these poles not to rot, but we are seeking to extend their useful life and reduce the need for additional tree harvesting moving forward. This is an amazing product and we highly recommend giving ROTBLOC serious consideration in your hop farm development or expansion planning.
